Brand Photography.

What is it and Why is it Important?

Let’s talk brand photography. These days, online presence is a crucial marketing element for business owners. Whether you sell a product or offer a service, having a strong and consistent brand identity is essential for your business’s success. Your brand identity is the visual aspect of your unique brand, so that includes your logo, your colors, and most importantly, your images. When a potential customer scrolls past your image on Instagram, or lands on your website, it should be clear to them who you are and what you do. So, how do you communicate a strong brand identity to your potential clients?

That’s where branding photography comes in.

Your brand photos are the visual representation of your business, so investing in a professional photographer is key!

So let’s get to talking about brand photography and why it’s important!

Types of brand photography.

There are two types of brand photography. Depending on what your business offers, you’ll either need product photography or lifestyle/personal branding photography. Some entrepreneurs opt for a healthy mix of both product and personal photos.

Product photography

First, let’s talk about product photography. More than ever, people are choosing to shop for their products online. Our society has not only become more digital, but more visual as well. When you’re scrolling through Instagram, an image has .5 seconds to capture your attention. Otherwise, you’ll just continue scrolling. If your business sells products, quality product photography is essential for your social media platforms and for your website. Investing in professional product images communicates to your audience that you’re serious about your business and your products. Your images also speak to the quality of your product. So, if you present high-quality images, your audience will assume you’re offering a high-quality product.

Lifestyle/Personal branding photography

The second type of brand photography is lifestyle or personal branding photography. This is for entrepreneurs who offer a service like coaching or photography, so basically, you are the product. Branding photography is so much more than traditional professional headshots. Entrepreneurs need to build their brand in order to gain customers and earn money. And in order to build a brand, you need to have images that tell your story. Branding photos communicate your visual identity through the use of colors, props, tone, and style. The best part of owning your own business is the ability to be yourself! You are what makes your business unique, so branding photos that speak to who you are and what you stand for will help to set you apart.

Where to use your branding photos

Once you have a quality arsenal of brand photos, whether they are product photos, personal branding photos, or a mix of both, you can use them for pretty much anything. Obviously, the most common marketing element to use your branded photos is social media, but you can also use them on your website and other marketing materials like pamphlets, flyers, educational courses, or business cards. The possibilities are endless.

Our visual culture is here to stay. So, if you’re serious about growing a sustainable and successful business, branding photography is worth the investment. I know, investing in your business is a bit scary. Especially if it’s new. But it’s worth it! Having quality photos will help your business to grow and thrive in a digital world.
