This Folly Beach wedding means so much to me for several reasons:
- Gaven and Jay have become friends to me and I loved watching them tie the knot
- Folly Beach is so pretty and the weather was actually perfect the day of their wedding
- I just love weddings!
The back story: Gaven originally contacted me because she works with my mom. We had only met once or twice before then. But it all worked out perfectly! Gaven and Jay booked me for their wedding and we started planning their engagement session.
Because Folly Beach means so much to them, that’s actually where we took their engagement photos too! We even got the cutest shot of them standing in the middle of the road together (don’t worry, we watched for cars!).
I knew their wedding was going to be super fun, laid back, and beautiful. So I was extra excited to capture it. And it did not disappoint.
We started the day off at the Regatta Inn getting the girls ready and taking some cute pictures of them hanging out. I always love getting to hang out with the girls before the ceremony. I feel like another bridesmaid! Gaven’s sisters helped with her hair and makeup, then she got into her dress. I’m telling you, Gaven’s dress was literally made for her. It was so simple and classic.
Perfect for a waterfront wedding in Charleston.
The ceremony was setup right in front of the water with a great view of the Atlantic ocean. The Folly Beach marina was right next door so the boats set a beautiful backdrop for photos. Gaven and Jay wrote their own vows for each other. Which is actually my favorite thing because it’s so personal! Gaven read some of her journal entries from when they first started dating. I don’t think there was a dry eye.
Take a look at some of my favorite photos from Gaven and Jay’s Folly Beach Wedding.
I’ve said this before, but I think that first dances are my favorite part of the wedding day. Especially when the father of the bride sheds a few tears while dancing with his daughter! I just think they are so sweet and intimate. Luckily wearing a mask makes it easier to hide my emotions while I photograph the first dances!
P.S. For my Charleston brides, if you’re looking for an amazing waterfront venue in the Lowcountry you need to check out the Regatta Inn on Folly Beach!
Gaven and Jay rented out the whole inn for their wedding party and family. And all they had to do was walk down the stairs to go to their ceremony and reception! It was amazing!
Thank you to all of the vendors involved in making Gaven and Jay’s wedding so perfect!
