I know how nervous brides (and grooms) get the week of the wedding. It’s such an exciting, and somewhat nerve-racking, time, but you don’t want to lose sleep the night before! So here are a few tips on how to sleep well the night before your wedding!
P.S. Before you read this remember, you know your body best! If there are things in here that you know won’t work for you, don’t do them! For example: I know that I personally will not sleep well if my room is pitch black. So I would definitely be bringing night lights to sleep with!
These are just a few tips that I have heard my past Charleston brides talk about that helped them!
- Work on a good sleep schedule weeks prior to your actual wedding date.
Yes, this is going to be difficult and will require some self discipline! But it’s so worth it. Make the change gradual. Start with going to bed just 15 minutes earlier every day until you reach your end goal. Aim for 8 – 9 hours of sleep every night. - Create a good sleep environment.
If you like to sleep in the pitch black, make sure there are no lights that will be shining in your eyes when you turn the lights off. Set the temperature a little cooler so you don’t wake up sweating in the middle of the night. And put some white noise on to eliminate hearing your bridesmaids talking if they’re still up! - Cut back on caffeine and alcohol the week of your wedding.
Caffeine and alcohol can drastically change the quality of your sleep. If you do have either, try to cut back to just one or two cups a day!
- Try to start including exercise in your daily routine.
Exercise is proven to improve your sleep! Even just a long walk every day or a quick bike ride will help exhaust your body. - Stay off electronic devices at least one hour before you go to bed.
If you can keep your phone in another room it will take away the urge to roll over and sit on Tik Tok for hours. Trust me, we’ve all been there. Worried about waking up late? Have one of your bridesmaids be in charge of coming to wake you up! They might even wake you up with a fresh cup of coffee. How amazing does that sound? - Hire a planner to take care of EVERYTHING for at least the day of your wedding!
You’ve spent so much time planning this special day and you don’t want to spend the day of running around getting everything set up. You will want to sit back and enjoy every minute of it. So hire some help! Planners will handle all of the setting up, taking down, and small moments in between then.
Having a planner is a must to keep yourself relaxed the night before your wedding knowing you are in good hands!
Hopefully these tips have helped you learn how to sleep well the night before your wedding.
Sleep is so important and you will feel so much better if you get a good night’s rest! Just remember to relax and know that everything will go as planned!
