Planning your wedding is different for every season, so I’ve gathered some tips for planning a Spring wedding! Because winter is technically almost over (not really), I decided to skip ahead to Spring!

Planning a wedding in general can be a lot, and sometimes you don’t even think about what season you are planning for!

But Charleston is honestly a perfect place to plan a Spring wedding.

So you should definitely consider planning your Spring wedding here! The season is really important for a few reasons: color palettes, decorations,

  • This goes for any season, but have a rainy day backup plan!
You’ve heard of April showers bring May flowers right? Spring in Charleston is known for rainy days. Well Charleston in general is known for rainy days in any season! But having a back up plan will take some stress off and you won’t have to think about that last minute the day of!

  • Look up what time the sunset will be and plan ahead for your timeline!
The sun sets at different times during the Spring. And daylight savings time will begin in the Spring! So plan ahead for your ceremony start time, couples portraits, and your getting ready start time.
  • Ask your florist what flowers will be in bloom during the Spring.
There are some flowers you can’t get during the Spring! So if florals are a big deal to you and your favorite flowers aren’t blooming during the Spring, you might want to look at a different season to have your wedding!
  • Take advantage of the natural blooms that come during the Spring.
At some of my favorite venues they have the most beautiful blooms everywhere during the Spring.

Middleton Place and Magnolia Plantation are the first to come to mind because they are surrounded by Azaleas starting in March every year!

Use this to your advantage and plan your ceremony in front of some beautiful Oak trees, Azaleas, or other natural parts of your venue!

  • Contact your caterer to discuss what’s in season that can elevate your menu for your wedding day.
Veggies, seafood, and fruits are all better/only available during certain seasons. Again, take advantage of this! Add some delicious fresh asparagus or fish to the menu!
  • Look up color palettes on Pinterest to show your wedding planner what you were thinking!
There are so many different colors palettes that work great in the Spring. Don’t shy away from brighter, more vivid colors either! A mustard yellow would pair perfectly with a teal or pink.
