You may have clicked on this because you are questioning whether or not it is necessary to schedule an engagement session with your photographer. I’m here to tell you why engagement sessions are so important! There are a few reasons that I believe they are essential in your wedding experience with your photographer and your fiancé.
Engagement sessions are not only photographs, but an experience.
And when you think about it, your season of engagement is usually the shortest in comparison to dating and being married. So why not document it?!
Here are the top reasons I believe engagement sessions are so important
- You can use the photos for your wedding
What?! How is that possible?!
I’ve seen so many of my couples use their engagement photos for their save the dates! And not only save the dates, but prints displayed at their weddings and also as guest books to sign. Curious as to how you can use your engagement photos as a guest book? Send me a message and I will show you a great example! - You’ll get to know your photographer
This is such a great opportunity to get to know you photographer on a different level. Most of the time you speak to them via email or text, and occasionally phone calls. Engagement sessions give you the opportunity to see the way your photographer communicates with you both.Plus this is a part of the Catherine Hurt Photography experience!
You can get to know them on a personal level so you feel more comfortable with them on your wedding day. For me, engagement sessions are my (second) favorite part of the wedding experience, the first being your actual wedding day! Why? Because I get to know my couples. I find out what their favorite colors are, where they grew up, their favorite candy, literally everything!
- This is the perfect time to get comfortable in front of the camera
I definitely know how intimidating it is to be in front of the camera. It can be scary! Especially if it’s your first time. That’s why it is so much better if your first time in front of the camera is at your engagement session instead of your wedding! You will have time to get comfortable and relax. Then by the time your wedding comes around, you’ll be a professional!
- It is a great opportunity to schedule professional hair and makeup
This is probably the best part. Because you don’t even have to do your hair and makeup! Go ahead and schedule your trial runs for your hair and makeup or just schedule an appointment for fun! And you can make a whole day out of it. - It’s the perfect excuse to schedule a date night after!
Almost all of my couples choose to make it a date night for a few reasons: you’re already dressed up and ready, you’re most likely already out downtown or somewhere with plenty of restaurant choices, and it’s the perfect way to wrap up the night.Downtown Charleston is the perfect place for a date night!
And Downtown Charleston isn’t the only place that’s great for date nights. Wherever you decide to have your engagement session, do some research and plan your perfect night!
So moral of the story…
Plan that engagement session!!!
You will not regret it. I promise!
