Tell us a little about yourself:
I am from Raleigh, NC originally and went to NC State University! I’ve worked in almost every vendor role in the wedding industry. But some of my favorites have included being a Venue Coordinator, Stationery Stylist (selling + designing wedding paper goods), a Floral Assistant, and of course being a Wedding Planner! Some of the things I love are trying new restaurants and recipes in my spare time, watching trashy television with my fur babies, Phoebe + Joey, and hosting game nights with plenty of wine and good friends!
Abby has so much experience in the wedding industry which makes her even more amazing for Charleston Chancey Charm Weddings!
How would you describe your style?
Honestly, I have three very different styles that I love. I adore the Italian and/or French rustic countryside, vineyard vibe. I also love the more rustic yet industrial feel such as at the Cedar Room. And finally, living in Charleston, I of course am a sucker for the traditional Southern weddings in the lush, outdoor venues and gorgeous historic homes.
What do you love most about working in weddings?
I love getting to play a big part in the happiest day of peoples’ lives! Forming those relationships and getting those tears and hugs at the end of the evening is the best. My favorite moment of a wedding is towards the end of the evening, when all of the guests are feeling good and out on the dance floor. Everyone is dancing and laughing and singing to each other, and not thinking about anything else other than just being happy in that moment. I love seeing all of the couples most important people in their lives come together in one space and be joyful together!
One of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer in South Carolina is that I get to form real relationships with my couples.
What advice would you give to your couples who are preparing for their wedding day?
Try and remember that this is YOUR wedding! I understand, you want your family + friends to be happy, and you want your guests to all have a great time. But remember that this is a celebration of you and your love together, and that is really what the day should represent the most. Don’t be afraid to speak up and fight for what you envision, and don’t be afraid to be unique!
What are your favorite wedding trends right now?
Intimate/micro weddings. I personally love a smaller guest count. Not necessarily a trend, but I also loveeee when couples aren’t afraid of color + funky florals!
I love it when my couples include color in their Charleston weddings too!
