Summer is coming and that means….more family sessions! Being a family photographer in Charleston, SC is great during the summer. A lot of families visit here during the summer since Charleston is such a huge travel destination. Also it’s kind of the best of both worlds with downtown and the beach. And it’s the perfect time to get updated family photos!
Growing up, we took tons of family photos. I literally have albums and albums of family photos. And I LOVE it! Mainly because I don’t remember a lot of those times, so it’s nice to be able to look back at them now. I was actually just looking through a lot of them as I was doing some spring cleaning this past week. It made me think about how when I have my own family I want to take as many photos as possible together. I want my kids to be able to look back and see all the amazing trips we went on together. Or the unplanned moments caught on camera too. There were photos from holidays, family vacations, picnics in the front yard back in Idaho, and all kinds of memories documented.
As much as I hated family photos when I was a kid (I actually think my sisters hated it more than me), I can’t imagine not having them now. I am so happy that my mom made us take them! This is one of the biggest reasons why I love taking photos for families during the summer, or really any time of the year! I want to help as much as possible to create those memories for you all to have in the future.

Before my best friend moved to Georgia I asked her if I could help document their time here in Charleston. They all talked about how much they were going to miss it here so I snapped a few pictures of them downtown and they ended up being some of my favorites! I’m so happy that I was able to capture these moments for them. But I’m still secretly hoping they can move back here soon!

3 sweet families all wanted their photos on the beach and I absolutely said yes! I am one of those weird photographers who actually enjoy taking pictures on the beach. I love the colors and the open skies!
And last, but not least, Sejin & Paul. They were expecting their first child and wanted to document their maternity while visiting Charleston. So sweet and we had so much fun!
