So if you’re planning your wedding I’m sure at this point you have thought of absolutely everything! But I am here to help you prepare for your big day in ways you may not have thought of before by giving you some bride getting ready photo tips.

From a photographer’s perspective, everything is different. For us photographers, the day starts with your gorgeous details. Think invitation suite, rings, shoes, dress, etc. But for the bride and bridesmaids, your day starts with the getting ready photos. These are the makeup shots, the cute robe/pajama pictures with your girls, confetti or Champagne popping, and all the fun stuff before getting into your dress!

Here are a few bride getting ready photo tips:

If you can, try to get a spacious room for getting ready.

Charleston is known for it’s beautiful wedding venues.

But did you know that a lot of venues (especially in Charleston) have a bridal suite? These are great and super convenient! If your venue doesn’t have a bridal suite to get ready in, I suggest looking at nearby hotels/suites or even a cute little airbnb! I’ve seen my couples do both and it’s so nice when they have more room to move around and get ready in.

Try to keep the room as tidy as possible!

I know this is REALLY hard! You’ve got all your bridesmaids, probably your mom and other family members, and the hair and makeup artists. That’s a lot of people in one room, so it can definitely be hard to keep up with.

My tip is this: Ask your bridesmaids and family to try to keep their stuff as organized as possible. I’m sure they will be more than willing to help out in that way on your big day! Also, a plus to keeping the room organized is you will be much less stressed out. Double win!

Try to pick a room with lots of natural light.

This is a photographer’s dream! Rooms with lots of windows give us photographers more opportunities with where we can take pictures. So if you have a window in that bedroom and want to take cute confetti popping pictures with your bridesmaids, pull those curtains back! There can never be too much natural light.

This will guarantee you get the dreamy photos to put in your wedding album!

And last, don’t forget to bring the fun stuff!

Champagne, confetti, or anything else you can think of! Also don’t forget to have your girls wear their cute matching outfits if you have them. One of my favorite parts of the day is getting pictures of the bridesmaids and bride in your cute matching robes or pajamas.

Those are my tips for you to get the best bride getting ready photos possible on your wedding day!

Oh, and one more thing. I know a lot of brides get super excited and nervous when the photographer shows up because it starts feeling real. First, don’t stress! This is going to be one of the best days of your life and it is so natural to feel nervous and/or excited! Second, sometimes because of this you start to feel hot and you don’t want to sweat off your makeup, so bring a fan! That way you can sit in front of it and cool off 🙂
