2020 has been an interesting year no doubt. I never expected I would be taking a road trip this year! But I couldn’t say no to helping my friend move from Arizona to Charleston. And I’m glad I didn’t!
We drove from Arizona to Charleston in 3 nights.
I brought a small bag of clothes, a few books, my film camera, and my GoPro. The whole trip was recorded (video is in the process of being made!) and I am so glad that I did record it!
One thing I will say, it was such a weird time to be traveling. We wore our masks everywhere, ordered takeout to eat in the hotel, and constantly used hand sanitizer. Luckily, we spent most of our time in the car, so it wasn’t too bad! The weirdest part for me was flying. I already have a hard time flying because I am terrified of it so it was even harder for me this time. I had a panic attack before I got on my first plane…and I almost didn’t get on at all! But I ended up calming myself down and once we were up in the air I was fine!
Once I landed in Phoenix we stopped for some delicious churros. I got fruity pebbles and a yummy matcha icing on mine! The next morning we packed up the car and we were on the road! Our first stop for pictures was in Sedona, Arizona. It was absolutely breathtaking.
Our next stop was Albuquerque, New Mexico! This was our first stop to stay the night. The next morning we went and wandered around Old Town which reminded me so much of the Disney movie Coco!
We stayed in Oklahoma City our second night. Since we got there so late we didn’t have much time to explore and we left early the next morning! So no pictures here 🙁
But our last night we stayed in Memphis, Tennessee and I absolutely loved it there! We visited Sun Studio where Elvis recorded and then walked down Beale Street. It was really hot so after that we grabbed some barbecue and headed to the hotel for the rest of the night. Plus the next day was our longest drive…10 hours!
And our last stop…Charleston! The end of our road trip!
It was a bittersweet end. It was so nice for both of us to get out of the house and go on a little trip. We will definitely be planning another one, but maybe not during a worldwide pandemic hahah!
If you ever have the chance to go on a road trip with your best friend, DO IT!
