I can’t believe it’s my one year anniversary since I went full time with my photography business! It has been such a crazy adventure so far, but I wouldn’t change any of it.
One year ago I was working a full time job for a real estate company in the Charleston area. I was in charge of all photography and video there for 2 years! Over those two years I gradually grew my business on the side. Working basically two full time jobs. I came home from work and immediately got out my laptop to crank out some photography work. It was exhausting to be honest. I continued like that until I felt like I was ready to take the next step with my Catherine Hurt Photography.
I think the moment I knew I was ready was when I was sitting on my bathroom floor crying because I was so exhausted. The past two years I had worked myself to complete exhaustion; mentally, emotionally and physically.
I knew it was time to take my photography business full time here in Charleston.
I remember those days so clearly. There was so much excitement! Also, Avengers Endgame was coming out the day I put in my two weeks, so I had the best celebration by driving straight to the theater after my last day and watching that AMAZING movie! The weekend was celebrated with lots of food, friends, and even a birthday trip to Disney! Yes, I put in my two weeks the week before my birthday. I figured then would be the perfect time.
Once I got back from Disney, I started to get to work. I photographed 7 weddings last year, which was huge for me! There were 7 weddings I was able to witness and document for some amazing couples. Plus lots of other weddings I second shot for other amazing photographers, and a ton of portrait sessions.
Overall, I learned a lot my first year full time.
Weddings are more than just pretty pictures.
Sometimes they are the last memories a bride has of her father.
Due to COVID-19, I wasn’t able to celebrate my one year anniversary like I wanted to. But I still had fun watching movies, eating way too much food, and spending time with family!
This was a very relaxing one year anniversary, that’s for sure.
But I wanted to share a few of my photos from the last year, take a look below!
Had to include these ones because they are all some the most amazing photographers & people ever and I can’t believe I got to meet them!
There are so many more pictures, couples, and families that I love! But you would be scrolling for hours if I put them all on this blog! If you want to see more images from the past year and more, visit my Pinterest!
I can confidently say, being a full time wedding photographer in Charleston is probably my favorite thing ever.
